TMFFA series: electric tilting crucible melting furnaces
TMFFA-E furnaces melt aluminium and its alloys in a crucible; for pouring, the furnace tilts hydraulically and metal is poured from the tap-out. The series has 10 sizes from 50 kg to 1,000 kg. The chamber of each size is designed separately around the real dimensions of its crucible.
How to choose the size
- Metal per pour: The amount of liquid metal you need per pour sets the size. Each product page lists capacity, crucible type, installed power and the (calculated) melting rate.
- Crucible: Crucibles with pouring spout of TP / Vesuvius BU–BP class are used; the sizes are based on crucibles available on the market.
- Working height: On the 50–200 kg sizes the operator works from floor level; from 300 kg up an operator platform with stairs is standard.
Standard on every size
- Hydraulic tilting to 95° with the tilting axis at the tap-out, so the pouring point does not move. Hand pump for emergency tilting during a power cut.
- Hexagonal chamber with 3 tiers of heating blocks on 5 walls; blocks are replaced one by one without removing the insulation. Chamber working temperature 950 °C (max. 1200 °C).
- Floor drain opening and tray that lead metal away from the elements if the crucible cracks; a separate over-temperature thermocouple beside the control thermocouple.
This category also lists our gas-fired TMFFA-G series in the same 10 sizes: combustion gas leaves the chamber at the top and descends inside the wall; the stack and recuperator do not tilt with the furnace.
