SMFFA-05-E 500 kg Electric Stationary Crucible Furnace

Prices are prepared per project according to capacity, energy type and delivery terms.

SMFFA-05-E is an electrically heated, stationary (non-tilting) crucible furnace we designed for melting and holding aluminium and its alloys; metal is taken from the crucible by ladle. The body sits directly on the floor with no frame underneath; if required, the furnace can also be set into a pit. We design the furnace from the crucible outwards: chamber size, heating element layout and insulation thickness follow the real dimensions of the crucible. This model is built around a Morgan Excel E BX247E bale-out crucible (≈444 kg Al).

Heating layout: hexagonal chamber, 3 tiers

The chamber is a hexagonal platform. One wall carries the crucible support brick and has no heating elements. The other 5 walls each carry heating blocks in 3 tiers; each tier is one phase of 5 blocks in series, so the bottom, middle and top of the crucible heat evenly. The tier ends are joined in star with a heavy copper bar.

Easy maintenance

Block-to-block links are flexible bars outside the insulation. A failed block is removed and replaced on its own, without dismantling the insulation.

Lid and metal take-out

The lid is lifted and swung aside with a counterweighted hand lever. As an option, the lid can be opened by a Ø50 hydraulic cylinder with a 0.75 kW mini power unit. Metal is taken from the open crucible by ladle. The operator reaches the crucible safely from a fixed platform and stairs beside the furnace.

Power and control

The main control panel stands on the floor, separate from the furnace; power cables run in a floor cable duct and enter the terminal box on the body from below. The terminal box fully encloses the element connections and is ventilated through holes at its edges. A signal tower on the panel shows heating, warning and alarm states.

Safety

If the crucible cracks, molten metal escapes before reaching the heating elements: the floor refractory slopes to a drain opening closed by a hinged flap that opens under the metal, which then flows into a drain tray. Besides the control thermocouple the chamber has a separate over-temperature (limit) thermocouple; metal temperature is measured with an L-type thermocouple.
