MMS Excel TEX577R / HiMelt TEHM577R is a carbon-bonded silicon carbide (SiC) spouted cylindrical crucible for melting brass, bronze, other copper alloys and precious metals, used in tilting induction furnaces. The same size is available in two grades: Excel for general use and HiMelt for higher temperatures and more arduous service.

First use: in fuel-fired furnaces pre-heat the empty crucible to about 900 °C (bright red) to condition the glaze; control the initial heating rate for large crucibles. In induction furnaces limit the power until the crucible is red over its entire surface.

We can carry out crucible replacement, stand and installation. Send us your current crucible dimensions and we will identify the equivalent pattern together.

Dimensions and capacities are taken from the manufacturer catalogue (MMS Excel / HiMelt); capacities are for brass and normal manufacturing tolerances apply. The Molten Metal Systems (MMS) crucible business passed from Morgan Advanced Materials to Vesuvius in 2022; the products are now offered under the Foseco brand.
