Kanthal Super RA 6/12 is a molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) based high-temperature heating element with a maximum element temperature of 1700 °C. Developed for nitrogen atmospheres above 1250 °C; other MoSi2 grades undergo nitration in nitrogen. It is used in laboratory, sintering, glass and ceramic furnaces at temperatures beyond the reach of metallic wires.
