Elimko TC02-1S5Y15-50 is a straight-type single-element type S (Pt%10Rh-Pt (IEC 60584)) platinum thermocouple, Ø15 mm, with 500 mm immersion length. The gas-tight KER 610 ceramic tube protects the platinum element from furnace gases. Thermal shock resistance is medium; insert and withdraw slowly.
Platinum thermocouples are far more stable than type K above 1200 °C, so they are used in ceramic, glass, sintering and high-temperature heat-treatment furnaces. The platinum element is sensitive to metal vapours and reducing atmospheres; the right protection tube determines its life.
