Elimko TC02-1R4X26-50-PY is a straight-type single-element type R (Pt%13Rh-Pt (IEC 60584)) platinum thermocouple, Ø26 mm, with 500 mm immersion length. Double-tube design: thermal-shock-resistant porous KER 530 outside, gas-tight KER 610 inside. Preferred in furnaces with frequent door openings and temperature swings. This is the example code in the Elimko catalogue.
Platinum thermocouples are far more stable than type K above 1200 °C, so they are used in ceramic, glass, sintering and high-temperature heat-treatment furnaces. The platinum element is sensitive to metal vapours and reducing atmospheres; the right protection tube determines its life.
