Elimko TC01-1R5I22-100-PZ is a straight-type single-element type R (Pt%13Rh-Pt (IEC 60584)) platinum thermocouple, Ø22 mm, with 1000 mm immersion length. Impact-resistant Inconel metal tube outside, KER 799 ceramic tube inside. Used below 1200 °C where a bare ceramic tube could break and where reference-grade accuracy is required. This is the example code in the Elimko catalogue.
Platinum thermocouples are far more stable than type K above 1200 °C, so they are used in ceramic, glass, sintering and high-temperature heat-treatment furnaces. The platinum element is sensitive to metal vapours and reducing atmospheres; the right protection tube determines its life.
