Platinum and Ceramic Tube Thermocouples
Above 1200 °C a type K thermocouple drifts quickly; at these temperatures platinum-rhodium (type S and R) elements and gas-tight ceramic protection tubes are used.
- Type S: Pt10%Rh-Pt · Type R: Pt13%Rh-Pt (IEC 60584)
- KER 610: gas-tight special porcelain, 1500 °C
- KER 799: pure alumina, 1600 °C
- KER 530 + KER 610: thermal-shock-resistant double-tube design
- Inconel + KER 799 inner tube: below 1200 °C, protected against impact
The platinum element is sensitive to metal vapours and reducing atmospheres; tell us the furnace atmosphere and we will select the right tube together.
